Leaving for the summer? Or for an extended trip? Remember to: Notify your Block Captain, using the EXTENDED ABSENCE form. Notify the SAV (Sheriff’s Auxiliary) to check your house regularly while you are gone. Give a neighbor a key to your home so they can check inside for a water leak or other emergency and to reset timers after a power outage. Home burglaries are no longer uncommon in Green Valley ….. PREVENTION STARTS WITH TAKING PRECAUTIONS Be sure your home appears occupied. An occupied appearance will discourage burglars. Put lights on timers; different timers in different rooms, going on and off at different times. Put a radio on a timer. Ask a neighbor to occasionally park in your driveway. Arrange for your maintenance service to regularly trim bushes, and clean up your yard. A “cared for” look to your property is probably the most important preventative measure you can take.
We never know when our water heater is going to spring a leak, our outside garage light is going to burn out, a rabbit is going to chew through our drip system line, our house is going to get hit by lightning – or, heaven forbid, something worse. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS WHENYOU’RE NOT HOME? Before you take off – Please provide your Block Captain with the info below! That way, it may be possible to either contact whoever you’re having “watch” your house while you are gone or contact you directly. Please be assured, the purpose of gathering this info is NOT to be “nosey”. This information will ONLY be shared in case of an emergency, on a “need to know” basis.
